Back in 1999, nothing much had been planned for Below the sea. Based in Montreal and Quebec city, this trio (formed of Pascal Asselin, Patrick Lacharité and Mathieu Lévesque) had already did a few gigs when they didn't even knew each other. While experimenting with Patrick's little 4-tracks, they quickly realised that something was rising up. Year 2000 took 6 months of recording after they had signed with Where are my records, The loss of our winter came up with the idea of building songs that would be crafted into people's dreams. Since a lot of things changed; their album would be released in europe and would start garning more attention. Collaborative efforts came along and the experience they gained pushed them to release that album they think is being more accomplished. Les arbres dépayseront d'avantage was recorded this last winter and has been written over the course of their existence. It'll take years until they discover where they've hidden all that melancholia.
