Peach Kelli Pop

Peach Kelli Pop LP

Songs written + recorded by Allie Hanlon & performed live by Allie & friends. California via Ottawa, Canada.
Peach Kelli Pop is minimalist bubblegum/pre-Chysalis Blondie/Japanese cartoon pop/zero-grit sandpaper punk perfection! This White Wires side project (though this joy bop music is more of a mutiny than a side project by comparison to WW’s garage purity), PKP is more thrilling than PCP! - Rocktober
Peach Kelli Pop is the solo effort of Allie Hanlon (of White Whires), and boy is it sweet. The album was initially released on Going Gaga Records, with a pressing of about 500, but that soon sold out. It is now being repressed on hot pink and black vinyl by the ever amazing Infinity Cat, and is also being released by the awesome Burger Records. If that’s not enough of a reason to buy the record, I don’t know what is.
It’s hard not to fall in love with Hanlon listening to this album. The record kicks off with Hanlon counting 1,2,3,4 and as drums and a familiar sounding clangy guitar comes in. I began to get lost in the eerie warmth of her voice, but was snapped out of my trance the second I realized she was inviting me to do the eggroll and cheesecake with her. It’s this playfulness that adds to the charm of not only the song, but the whole persona of Peach Kelli Pop. Tracks like “Doo Wah Diddy” and “Lover” show Hanlon’s ability as a songwriter and musician. She’s able to craft catchy pop tunes along the lines of Hunx and his Punx and Nobunny. On tracks like “Lover” and “Bunny Luv,” she’s able to write one hell of a bass line. With tambourines and claps a plenty, this is one album you don’t want to miss out on. - Get Bent!
