Exquisite Corpse CD

Exquisite Corpse is an ode to and a lament for hip hop culture. Featuring solo contributions and collaborative efforts with guests whose performances range from traditional (MF Doom, Sci from Scienz of Life) to poetic (Mike Ladd, CYNE, Laura Darling) to experimental (Prefuse 73, Hrishikesh Hirway of The One AM Radio, TTC, Jogger), Exquisite Corpse's form combines disparate elements into Daedelus's single-minded vision. The album title's triple meaning-- a reference to death, a grand body of work, and the Surrealist group drawing game-- directly reflects the music's sum of the best elements of Daedelus's past productions.
Guest emcees and vocalists contrast their own styles with Daedelus's sugar-laden undercoating, proving that there are no limits to what can be included on a hip hop album. With releases on Plug Research, Hefty, Tigerbeat 6, and Eastern Development, Daedelus's refined style has no imitators. Contrasting IDM styled cut-ups with childlike arrangements from the '30s and '40s, his sound is entirely new. His productions find the hidden common denominator between modern electronics and sampled music from days gone by. Recording out of Santa Monica, Daedelus now incorporates hip hop into his mix, with guest spots from Busdriver (Afterlife), Sach (Nonce), Absract Rude (Project Blowed), Madlib (Stones Throw), and High Priest (Anti-Pop Consortium), all leading to his work on the 2003 Mush full length The Weather.
