A Vertical Mosaic is an electronic indie-pop trio from Montreal, Canada. They've been playing slow and moody indie synth rock since 1999. Rubert Bottenberg of the Montreal Weekly "Mirror" describes AVM's previous EP: "languid drumming stitched through with occasional glitchno skitter, sparse bass, delicate guitar plucking and soft, moody vibes 'n' keys... The melodies are solid and moving, not all precious and princessy. " "A trio of misfits making its bid to bridge the sonic gap between pop and the avant-garde in this city. On their very indie six-track debut No Nation No Blues, folk pop, percussive soundscapes--and an epic that sounds like New Order having a breakdown--all co-habit and get along quite well. The minimal, vaguely hypnotic live act equals this eclecticism, varying in both sound and intensity." Lorraine Carpenter Montreal Mirror Feb 8th 2001 With this, their latest release, the band steps forward while continuing with their delicate mix of electronic and indie influences, which prevail through the epic trilogy of AVM and the scandinavian inspirations of Le Monochrome.
