Simply entitled Pixies, this DVD is almost two-and-a-half hours of astounding archive action. There are four programs included: LIVE AT THE TOWN & COUNTRY CLUB 1988 (41:15) - This is the complete Pixies set filmed on May 1st, 1988, when the band supported 4AD's Throwing Muses on the last date of their first tour of England. Described by one writer as the finest double-bill since "the Romans decided to put the Christians and the lions on the same bill." This stunning performance is offered here with the choice of a Stereo or 5.1 Soundtrack.PROMO VIDEOS (23:03) - Initially low on budget, but high on wit and imagination, here are all eight of the rarely seen promotional videos, produced from 1988 to 1991, including the hit singles 'Monkey Gone To Heaven', 'Here Comes Your Man', 'Debaser', and more. ON THE ROAD (30:00) - An intimate, and previously-unseen assembly of footage filmed across America, and on the Pixies' infamous "Sex and Death" 1989 European tour. Audiences were left puzzled at their two London performances- the first featured songs played in alphabetical order, while the second reversed the order of the ordinary set, with the band leaving the stage after the first number (the encore) only to return for the rest of the show! GOUGE (50:02) - Directed by Matt Quinn, this 50 minute documentary traces the Pixies' story featuring interviews with Bono, David Bowie, Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead), Graham Coxon and Alex James (Blur), Fran Healy and Andy Dunlop (Travis), PJ Harvey, Tim Wheeler (Ash), Gavin Rossdale (Bush), Badly Drawn Boy, producers Steve Albini (Surfer Rosa) and Gil Norton (Doolittle, Bossanova, Trompe Le Monde), and of course, the band themselves.
