FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CLAIRECORDS ARTIST GUITAR TO RELEASE SEVENTH ALBUM, IT'S SWEET TO DO NOTHING, AUGUST 16

"Dolce farniente" - that’s what they say in Italy. It means "It's sweet to do nothing."
Over the last decade, Guitar’s Michael Lueckner has crafted six albums released on labels such as Morr Music and Onitor (Germany), Third-Ear and & Records (Japan), and Clairecords (USA).

Each album brought a unique twist to his marriage of electronics and more traditional instrumentation, and most with a certain refreshing twist on shoegazing. However, on It’s Sweet to Do Nothing, his seventh full-length, Michael purposefully takes a 180-degree turn by blending classical string arrangements (harp, piano, violin, contrabass, etc.) with drum programming and samples. He returns to his roots here, as his first love of music, his most collected and most listened-
to music is modern classic chamber music.

It’s Sweet To Do Nothing is intentionally impressionistic - the listener is requested (and inspired) to think about Monet, Sisley, Degas, Pisarro - landscapes, lakes, people in motion. The album’s impressionistic cover art was commissioned from artist Jonathan Armstrong, who was sent an early release of the album to absorb before painting the piece.

The sound and arrangement of the pieces are close to the ideas and techniques of Debussy and Ravel. Soprano vocals by Stina K. are provided on several tracks. The entire album was created over 5 years (2005-2010), and was designed to be evocative of relaxing in, and traveling to, “dolce farniente” places in Europe, Japan and North-America. Places like the Canary Islands, Okinawa or Catalina Island. And it could only be done with classical music instrumentation -- more specifically, with chamber music arrangements.

Upon initial listen, the album may seem far removed from Michael’s earlier work with symphonic walls of guitars, but ultimately the arrangements are similar -- minus the distortion this time.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
CLAIRECORDS GROUP THE BROTHER KITE @ SXSW!
ALBUM #3, ISOLATION, OUT NOW
File Under: Shoegaze, indie pop, dream pop

“TBK's new full-length Isolation (Clairecords) just shot their sunny harmonies and creative arrangements through the stratosphere. It's one of the best albums we've encountered this year” – Chris Conti, Providence Phoenix

There’s big noise emanating from our nation’s smallest state courtesy of The Brother Kite and their third album, Isolation. Released Sept. 28, it’s an auspicious progression from the Providence fivesome’s last album, Waiting for the Time to be Right, which earned them a 7.6 from Pitchfork and showcase appearances at SXSW and CMJ. Gigs with the likes of Frightened Rabbit, the French Kicks and the Danielson Famile followed, as did loads of airplay on college and community radio stations far and wide. As Pitchfork’s Joe Tangari raved, “The Brother Kite slip right past the sky on their guitars and into low orbit here, and it's a pleasure to join them there.”

Mixed by Thom Monahan (Pernice Bros, Matt Pond PA, J. Mascis and The Fog), Isolation expands upon The Brother Kite’s confident energy and penchant for sun-ripened Beach Boys harmonies and shoegazy guitar work. Make no mistake that, as the band intones, the scene is changing all around you.
CLAIRECORDS NEWSLETTER WINTER 2011
Welcome to the 54th edition of the Clairecords newsletter, brought to you by a New Year’s hangover. Pass the Alka-Seltzer!

We at Clairecords would like to extend our deepest thanks to the radio stations, blogs, venues and publication that played, wrote about and booked our fabtastic artists in 2010. 2011 will deliver new releases from The Brother Kite, Silver Screen and Guitar as well as SXSW-related happenings, so by all means, stay tuned!

AUTODRONE
Autodrone rocked the living you-know what out of the Iceland Airwaves, playing sold-out shows to throngs of chilly onlookers. Upon their return home, they made a smashing return to CMJ and tore up the Mercury Lounge with The Brother Kite. Now, our five fave New Yorkers are getting down to the biz of cranking out new tunes especially for you! Keep your eyes (and ears) open for details.
http://www.myspace.com/autodrone
SECRET SHINE
Our favorite band of Bristolians has self-released a new album called The Beginning and the End, and though it’s not a Clairecords release, we encourage you to get your hands on it. Tonevendor will have copies available for purchase as soon as the mailman delivers them. Secret Shine is looking to perform in Italy in May, so if you have the proper connections let us know. For now, peruse the confirmed European dates below!
SILVER SCREEN
There will be another Silver Screen album very, very soon, as soon as the all-important cover artwork is decided upon and processed. Stay tuned for more exciting details!

TEARS RUN RINGS
Distance may only be a few months old, but its makers have already broken ground on its follow-up! Yep, album #3 is in the works, and while we don’t have a working title or potential release date for you at this time, we’ll gladly bring it to you as it becomes available. The vinyl aficionados among you will no doubt be thrilled at the prospect of Distance on wonderful wax. Deep Space Recordings is doing the honors for that, and Tonevendor will have copies as soon as our top-secret tune factory presses ‘em up.
THE BROTHER KITE
We’re beyond thrilled to announce that our favorite people from the Ocean State, like, ever will be back to make a mess of Texas at SXSW 2011. It’ll be the band’s third appearance at the annual music bacchanalia, and we couldn’t be more excited. If you’re hosting an SXSW-related event at which you’d like The Brother Kite to play, now’s the time to inquire within! The band will be looking to rent and/or borrow backline and other gear as well, so let us know if you can help your Providence buddies in that regard, too. In further TBK-related happenings, the band’s split-7 inch, Aching Heart/Clear Conscience is available for purchase at Tonevendor.com .

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
CLAIRECORDS GROUP THE BROTHER KITE FOLLOWS ALBUM #3, ISOLATION, WITH SELF-RELEASED LIMITED-EDITION 7-INCH, “ACHING HEART, CLEAR CONSCIENCE”
File Under: Shoegaze, indie pop, dream pop

Anyone who’s ever been to, through or around Providence, R.I. are well-acquainted with its many offerings: doughboys, fishbowls, the Big Blue Bug, and of course, Family Guy. Thanks to The Brother Kite, there’s big noise emanating from our nation’s smallest state. The quintet released its third full-length album, “Isolation,” on Sept. 28. Mixed by Thom Monahan (Pernice Bros, Matt Pond PA, J. Mascis and The Fog), it expands upon The Brother Kite’s confident energy and penchant for sun-ripened Beach Boys harmonies and shoegazy guitars. It’s an auspicious progression from its predecessor, 2006’ “Waiting for the Time to be Right,” which earned a 7.6 Pitchfork rating, ample college/community radio airplay, and showcase appearances at SXSW and CMJ. The Moonlit Race EP emerged soon thereafter, adding yet another installment to the band’s growing catalog.

While touring in support of “Isolation,” The Brother Kite observed fans growing attached to a new track called "Aching Heart." Sensing a post-“Isolation” favorite in the making, they wasted no time giving it a proper waxing. Hence the Aching Heart, Clear Conscience 7-inch, limited to 500 copies and released on The Brother Kite’s own Light Fighter Records imprint. The 7-inch pairs “Aching Heart” with “Clear Conscience,” which finds the band paring down their sound to an acoustic mood reflective of Bob Dylan and Nick Drake. Make no mistake that, as the band intones, the scene is changing all around you.
CLAIRECORDS NEWSLETTER ROCKTOBER 2010
Welcome to the 53rd edition of the Clairecords newsletter, brought to you by tricks, treats, jack-o-lanterns, and just a little bit of isolation.

Hey, Clairecords is on Twitter now! Keep apprised of our many exciting activities at http://twitter.com/Clairecords .

On to the happs:

AUTODRONE
Autodrone just flew back from Iceland and boy, are their arms tired! In all seriousness, the band was a smashing success at the Iceland Airwaves Festival in frosty Reykjavik, where they joined peeps like Robyn, Basia Bulat and Dan Deacon in bringing the rock to the frozen throngs. Autodrone returned home in time to turn in a fantastic CMJ set, and they’re hard at work on new material, too.

GUITAR
Achtung, baby! Exciting news for you lovers of sounds made for nocturnal chill-outs: Guitar mainman Michael Lueckner has delivered another set of what he dubs “classic chamber music” called It's Sweet To Do Nothing, to our excited hands. It came to fruition after “five years of hard work and sweat,” and we promise it’ll be worth every bit of the wait. We expect to bring it to you next spring, and will have pre-order information for you as soon as is humanly possible.

In Between
Perfect Life
Run around
Destiny
Every Thought
No More Inside
Harry
Hole in the Heart
Windmill Hill
It’s Killing Me
Water’s Edge
Touching Nothing

TEARS RUN RINGS
The best Portland-by way of San Francisco by-Los Angeles foursome, like, ever have made a welcome return with Distance, their second long-player. Selections from the album have surfaced on the playlists of fine radio broadcasters like KEXP-FM (Seattle, WA; #30), WPRK-FM (Winter Park, FL), WKDU-FM (Philly, PA), SCAD Radio (Atlanta, GA); and WXDU-FM (Durham, NC ; #68). We’ve even tracked airplay from locations as far-flung as Portugal and Australia. If you’ve yet to hear Distance on the station nearest you, why not do the right thing and request it?

There’s much excitement bubbling over at the Brother Kite camp: Isolation made its long-awaited arrival on Sept. 28, and there’s a copy waiting for you at Tonevendor.com if you haven’t acquired one yet. KCRW-FM (LA, CA), WKDU-FM (Philly, PA), WLUW-FM (Chicago, IL) and WMBR-FM (Cambridge, MA) are among the fabtabulous stations devoting generous airplay to Isolation, so keep your ears open for a song or two on the college/community broadcaster near you. THE BROTHER KITE
The Brother Kite have long excelled at creating damn fine atmospheric fare, dating back to their 2004 self-titled debut album. TBK's new full-length Isolation (Clairecords) just shot their sunny harmonies and creative arrangements through the stratosphere.” – Chris Conti, Providence Phoenix

TEARS RUN RINGS
“You'd never know this quintet was filesharing, trading tracks from scattered domiciles in L.A., Portland, and Seattle. It sure doesn't sound mailed; it sounds nailed, in shimmer guitars from heaven, and melodies from childhood lullabies. You, shoegaze fan? You live for this, still, even 20 years on.” – Jack Rabid, All Music Guide
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CLAIRECORDS ARTIST THE BROTHER KITE TO RELEASE LONG-AWAITED THIRD ALBUM, ISOLATION, SEPT. 14

“Providence, Rhode Island's Brother Kite make music that floats, tethered to the ground by the thinnest of strings.” -- Joe Tangari, Pitchfork

Clairecords is ecstatic to announce that The Brother Kite’s third studio full-length, Isolation, is set for release Sept. 14. The Providence fivesome’s last album, Waiting for the Time to be Right, received glowing media accolades and loads of airplay on college and community radio stations far and wide, and earned the band appearances at SXSW and CMJ, and gigs with the likes of Frightened Rabbit, the French Kicks and the Danielson Famile.

Having two sonically distinct full-length records under their belt, The Brother Kite were determined to create something as ambitious as their previous efforts, yet completely unique from them. They returned in the spring of 2008 to Beaten Path in Mason and set to work on what would ultimately become their third full-length record, Isolation. After a year of recording, they enlisted engineer, producer and fan Thom Monahan (Pernice Bros, Matt Pond PA, J. Mascis and The Fog) to mix the album at The Hangar in Sacramento, CA.

Where Waiting For The Time To Be Right was built on thick layers of Wurlitzer organ and droning guitars, warmly undercut by silky vocal harmonies sometimes heard, other times only hinted at, Isolation strips The Brother Kite’s sound down into individual elements, allowing each reverberated guitar pluck, tambourine clash and warbling synth line to stand on its own. It is surely one of the year’s most ambitious rock records, and one that deserves all the attention that The Brother Kite has so lovingly put into creating it. Visit the band at http://www.thebrotherkite.com , http://www.myspace.com/thebrotherkite and twitter.com/thebrotherkite

AVERKIOU
James Hernandez speaks! “Lately we've been working on writing new songs, most of the songs we play are 2+ years old, so we're trying to get some new blood into the set list, and also work towards having enough material for a new release. And while on that subject, our friends at Sound Study records have been kind enough to work towards releasing a two song 7-inch that should be available in early July.”
